After many doubts, we have a National Assembly. Thursday, February 4, 2016 was the official opening of the first ordinary session of the 50th Legislature.

By a note, jointly signed by Jocelerme Privert, the President of the Senate and Cholzer Chancy, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, the common Haitian public was informed about the official opening of the first ordinary session of the 50th Legislature, to be held on Thursday, February 4, 2016, at 11:00 am at the Legislative Palace. The announced agenda for the occasion included "Observation of the presidential vacuum from February 7 with the departure of the President of the Republic in accordance with Articles 134-1 and 134-2 of the Constitution". Later on February 14, the parliament of Haiti met in the National Assembly and elected Jocelerme Privert as the interim president. Privert's other contenders for the post was Edgard Leblanc Fils and Dejean Bélizaire. Privert received total 58 votes (13 Senate + 45 Lower House) and defeated Leblanc (10 + 46). Bélizaire did not receive any vote.
