Haitian delegation to attend Earthquake Conference in Vatican

In an effort to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the 1010 Haiti Earthquake, Pope Francis is organizing a conference on the occasion this Saturday, January 10, 2015 in Vatican, Rome. More than 200 high personalities representing various sectors that are one way or another related to the earthquake have been invited. A Haitian Delegation comprising of 11 Haitian religious personalities is flying to Vatican to take part on the conference

The announcement was made by the president of the Episcopal Conference of Haiti (CEH), Cardinal Chibly Langlois.

The 2010 Haiti earthquake took place on Tuesday, 12 January 2010 at 16:53 local time. An estimated three million people were affected by the quake. The death tool ranged from 100,000 to 316,000 . The Haitian Government estimated that 250,000 residences and 30,000 commercial buildings had either collapsed or were severely damaged by the quake. Port-au-Prince Cathedral was destroyed and among those killed were Archbishop of Port-au-Prince Joseph Serge Miot
